A vibrant renewal of Helsinki’s iconic food market
Food Market Herkku, previously known as Stokkan Herkku, is one of Helsinki’s most recognised food halls. The project involved redesigning the entire market environment, including the service counters, café and restaurant areas, to create a lively and contemporary destination for food lovers.
The design introduces a vibrant atmosphere through colour, materials and handcrafted graphic elements. The new service counters were designed to become focal points within the market, while different tiling patterns help define the individual food areas. Hand-painted graphics add warmth and character to the space, bringing a playful layer of storytelling to the environment.
Together these elements create a dynamic and welcoming food market where the café, restaurant and market stalls form a cohesive and engaging experience for visitors.
