Kurula’s lounge and restaurant

Kurula’s represents a contemporary interpretation of leisure and quiet wonder, set against the ancient fells and the serene shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi. In close collaboration with the client, we identified and defined key strategic design elements that enhance spatial clarity and functionality while embedding the Kurula’s brand seamlessly into the restaurant and lounge interiors — creating a cohesive and experience-driven environment.

After exploring the essence of the Kurulas brand, the interior concept focused on strengthening its raw and honest identity — creating a space that feels grounded, atmospheric and true to its environment. The colour palette draws from earthy tones, charcoal blacks and warm timber hues, forming a robust yet balanced foundation for the interiors.

The entrance was carefully redesigned to establish a clear architectural hierarchy and improve navigation when approaching the resort. Arrival is a crucial moment in the guest experience — visitors need to intuitively understand where to go and feel welcomed immediately. Through spatial framing, material contrasts and lighting, we clarified circulation and created a natural flow from arrival to dining and lounge areas.

A dedicated lounge area and a custom-designed long sofa bring warmth to the dining and entrance space while significantly improving acoustic comfort. Tailored pine-themed graphics introduce the surrounding forest into the interior, integrating brand colours in a subtle yet distinctive way and reinforcing the connection between architecture, landscape and identity.

The result is a cohesive and memorable environment where interior architecture, materials, furniture, lighting and bespoke graphic elements work seamlessly together — expressing Kurulas Resort’s authentic northern spirit through purposeful, experience-led design.

Creating a strong

brand interior

Kurula’s brand interior translates the company’s values, story, and character through carefully considered materials, colours, lighting, and spatial design, creating an environment that clearly expresses the brand. We brought the Kurula’s brand colours and the surrounding nature into the interiors.

A clearly defined entrance sets the tone

The signage and graphics to be clearly visible from the road when approaching the resort.

When the brand, atmosphere, and graphics are defined as part of the concept design, they can be seamlessly and cost-effectively integrated into the customer experience, shaping the interior mood and extending consistently across all touchpoints — from signage and products to marketing and architecture, making implementation efficient and simplifying decisions down the line.
